Usage
Mount cameras, adjust joints, use the live view, and remove installations.
Install a camera
- Carry the item for the camera you want to install. Move beside an allowed vehicle within the configured interaction range.
- Use the item, run
/gapcam, or use the vehicle's camera target menu. - Choose Add camera and the camera type when starting from the menu.
- Position the preview and adjust its joints in the placement panel.
- Choose Save or press Ctrl + Enter, then let installation progress finish.
One item is consumed after the server accepts the installation. Cancel leaves the item in your inventory. A vehicle needs a persistent vehicle ID from the bridge or a stable plate before saving an installation.
Each saved camera appears separately in the vehicle menu, with its own type and ID. Choose a camera to view, adjust, or remove it. Selecting a camera also selects it for the view toggle key.
Position the mount
The placement panel provides position and rotation fields, movement controls, fine adjustment, and the camera's available joint controls. Position values use metres; rotation and hinge values use degrees.
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | Move forward, backward, left, or right |
| Page Up / Page Down | Move up or down |
| Q / E over the panel | Adjust yaw |
| G / H | Adjust pitch |
| Z / C | Adjust roll |
| Shift over the panel or Fine | Use fine adjustment |
| R | Reset the current edit |
| Ctrl + Enter | Save |
| Backspace / Escape | Cancel |
Use Reset to restore values from the start of the edit. Reset view returns the placement camera to the mount. Bounds displays the allowed camera area.
Move the cursor outside the panel to control the placement camera. Hold the right mouse button to look around, use WASD to move and Q / E to change height, and use the mouse wheel to zoom. Hold Shift to move faster.
The native gizmo provides movement and rotation handles where supported. Outside the panel, 1 selects movement, 2 selects rotation, and X switches local/global axes. Drag a handle with the left mouse button. The numeric fields and nudge controls provide another way to fit the mount.
Adjust camera joints
| Camera | Adjustment range |
|---|---|
| GapCam 360 | Pole length 0.30–2.00 metres; arm raise −15° to 90°; head tilt −90° to 90°; head swivel −180° to 180°; each cup hinge −60° to 60° |
| ActionCam | Lower, upper, and suction hinges −90° to 90°; head swivel −180° to 180° |
| DSLR | Lower hinge 0°–35°; upper hinge 0°–60°; head swivel −180° to 180°; slider 34–52 mm |
Adjust the mount so its suction cups sit against the vehicle surface and the lens points in the intended direction. Save the result, then check it while the vehicle moves. For a mount on a door, hood, or trunk, also check the panel while it opens and closes.
To change an existing camera, open its vehicle menu entry and choose the adjustment action. The editor uses a preview while the installed camera keeps its saved position until the edit is accepted. Cancel restores the saved installation.
Open the live view
Open the selected camera from its menu or press B. Use Backspace to leave, or press B again to toggle the view. A view started from inside a vehicle closes when you leave or switch away from that vehicle.
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Mouse wheel | Zoom |
| Middle mouse button | Reset the view |
| Right mouse button | Rotate the GapCam 360 view when free look is enabled |
| H | Toggle horizon lock |
| N | Send a Discord snapshot when configured |
| M | Record and upload a clip when configured |
ActionCam and DSLR normally follow their mounted lens direction. GapCam 360 allows free look. The viewfinder shows the camera's focus and exposure information; autofocus and automatic exposure adjust as the scene changes.
Follow Snapshots and recording before using the capture controls. These are the default bindings; check FiveM's keybind settings if a player has reassigned them.
Commands
| Command | Action |
|---|---|
/gapcam | Open the current or nearby vehicle's camera menu |
/gapcamview | Toggle the selected camera's live view |
/gapcamhorizon | Toggle horizon lock in an active view |
/gapcamsnap | Send a Discord snapshot |
/gapcamclip | Record and upload a clip |
/gapcamvideos | Open the player's saved CDN clips |
/gapcamunstuck | Close the camera and clip library and reset local camera controls |
Remove a camera
Open /gapcam, choose the installed camera, and select its removal action. Stay nearby until removal progress finishes. Make room in your inventory for the returned item.
Nearby players in the same routing bucket can adjust and remove installed cameras. The removing player receives the item. Server owners should account for this shared interaction when planning access to vehicles.
Garage storage and restarts
Store and respawn the same vehicle to restore its saved cameras. Its persistent ID and model must match. If the vehicle uses plate matching, its normalized plate and model must stay the same. Allow the garage to finish preparing the vehicle before checking the restored mounts.
Keep the database records and resource recovery data when updating or moving servers. Back up both before maintenance.
