Configuration
Set item requirements, ranges, timing, vehicle fit, and translations in Plate Flipper.
Editable files
Edit the resource's config.lua for gameplay and fitting settings. Translate player-facing text in locales/*.json. The included ADD_ME/items.lua supplies inventory definitions.
The interface source and compiled files are also editable in web. After changing interface source, rebuild it as described below. Restart Plate Flipper after changing configuration or translations.
Items and ownership
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Items.enabled | true | Requires a kit for installation and a remote for flipping |
Items.kit | plate_flipper_kit | Installation item name |
Items.remote | plate_flipper_remote | Remote item name |
RequireVehicleOwnership | true | Requires the registered vehicle owner |
InstallPermission.mode | all | Allows installation for players who meet the other requirements |
OwnerTransfer | inherit | Transfers the installation to the new registered vehicle owner |
BlockedModels | Empty table | Vehicle model hashes excluded from flipper use |
For a setup that uses commands without requiring items, set:
Config.Items.enabled = falseKeep the command enabled and use /plateflipper to install or remove a flipper. Use /plateflip or the flip key to operate it.
OwnerTransfer accepts inherit, remove, or lock. inherit passes the installation to the new registered owner. remove clears the installation after ownership changes. lock keeps the installation assigned to its original owner.
With RequireVehicleOwnership = false, the driver claims a new installation and that character retains control of it. For that setup, use unique registrations for vehicles that lack a persistent vehicle ID.
Installation permission rules come from 402studio_bridge. Use the permission format supported by your bridge setup when changing InstallPermission.
Commands and targeting
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Command | plateflipper | Command that opens Plate studio |
FlipKey | J | Default key for /plateflip |
Target.enabled | true | Enables vehicle target options |
Target.resource | ox_target | Target resource used for the vehicle menu |
Target.distance | 2.0 | Target interaction distance in metres |
Progress.enabled | true | Uses the bridge's progress provider during installation and removal |
Set Target.enabled = false to use commands and items without the target menu. A replacement target resource must support the same global vehicle target exports used by ox_target.
Players can change the flip binding in their FiveM keybind settings. /plateflip remains the flip command when you change Command.
Timing and distance
Distances use metres. Durations use milliseconds.
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
InstallDuration | 8000 | Installation takes 8 seconds |
RemoveDuration | 6000 | Removal takes 6 seconds |
FlipDuration | 1400 | Flip animation lasts 1.4 seconds |
FlipCooldown | 1700 | Wait 1.7 seconds between flip requests |
RemoteRange | 30.0 | Range for operating a flipper |
EditRange | 5.0 | Range for installation, editing, fitting, and removal |
DrawRange | 35.0 | Distance at which custom plates are displayed |
MaxVisible | 8 | Maximum nearby plate displays |
MaxInstalled | 128 | Maximum saved flipper installations |
For example, edit the matching settings in config.lua to use a shorter remote range:
Config.RemoteRange = 20.0
Config.EditRange = 5.0
Config.FlipCooldown = 1700Default vehicle fit
MountDefaults.front and MountDefaults.rear share these defaults:
| Value | Default | Unit |
|---|---|---|
x | 0.0 | Metres |
y | 0.0 | Metres |
z | -0.011 | Metres |
pitch, roll, yaw | 0 | Degrees |
scaleX, scaleY, scaleZ | 1 | Scale factor |
Change front and rear defaults separately. The fitting interface displays position in millimetres and size as a percentage. A scale factor of 1 is 100 percent.
Config.MountDefaults.rear.z = -0.011
Config.MountDefaults.front.z = -0.011
Config.FitLimits.offset = 0.75
Config.FitLimits.scale = { 0.5, 2.0 }The default offset limit is 0.75 metres in either direction. The default scale range is 50 to 200 percent. Reset to default position in the fitting panel uses the configured mount defaults. Saved per-vehicle fits remain separate from those defaults.
FitMargin defaults to 1.0. FitCamera.margin defaults to 1.5 and FitCamera.speed to 1.0. Camera bounds are enabled by default, with a fade distance of 1.0 and an alpha value of 160.
Translations
Copy locales/en.json to a language file such as locales/ro.json. Translate the values while keeping the keys and placeholders intact. Select the language in server.cfg:
setr 402studio:locale roThe resource reads 402studio:locale, then ox:locale, then English. Missing language files or missing translation keys fall back to English. The selected language covers the editor, fitting panel, target options, keybind descriptions, progress labels, and notifications.
Interface customization
Edit the interface source in web/src. From the resource's web directory, run:
bun install --frozen-lockfile
bun run buildKeep web/dist/index.html, web/dist/dui.html, and their referenced assets together when copying the rebuilt interface to your server. Restart Plate Flipper after replacing the compiled files.
