Usage
Install a flipper, create a custom plate, fit the housing, and operate the remote.
Install a flipper
With the default settings, use a vehicle owned by your character and carry a Plate Flipper Kit. Park the vehicle and stand close enough to reach a plate.
Use the kit item or choose Install plate flipper from the vehicle target menu. You can also run /plateflipper beside the vehicle and choose Install flipper in Plate studio.
Installation takes 8 seconds by default. Stay near the parked vehicle until it finishes. The kit is consumed after completion. If a progress provider is active, use its cancel control to cancel the installation.
Create the custom side
Open Plate studio from the target menu or run /plateflipper. Select Custom plate. The Original plate tab shows the vehicle's saved registration and style.
Choose a stock design under Plate style to use a game plate background with your own plate text. Plate text supports up to eight uppercase letters, numbers, or spaces.
Choose Own artwork to use the drawing tools:
- Add text creates a text layer with typeface, size, color, and position controls.
- Draw adds brush strokes. Brush width changes the stroke width.
- Rectangle and Ellipse create shape layers.
- Upload image adds a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG image as a layer.
- Move lets you select and drag layers into position.
Select a layer in the canvas or Layers list. Use the layer arrows to change its order, or delete it. Imported images also have width, height, rotation, and opacity controls. Undo reverses recent artwork changes.
Choose Save plates to store the artwork. Closing with unsaved changes shows a confirmation. Choose Keep editing to return, or Discard changes to close without saving those changes.
Artwork limits
Each plate side supports up to 48 layers and a total of 2,048 brush points. Text layers support up to 64 characters.
Uploads accept PNG, JPEG, WebP, and SVG files up to 8 MiB. The editor converts images to 512 by 256 PNG. Detailed images can exceed the saved image limit even when the uploaded file is small. If that happens, simplify the image or reduce its detail before uploading again.
Fit the housing
After installation, choose Front or Rear under Vehicle fit. Each end has its own saved position.
Drag the handles to move, rotate, or resize the frame. Use the numeric fields for precise changes. Position fields show millimetres, rotation fields show degrees, and size fields show percentages.
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Hold right mouse button over the vehicle view | Look around the plate |
| Mouse wheel over the vehicle view | Zoom in or out |
W, A, S, D over the vehicle view | Move the camera within vehicle bounds |
1 | Select move handles |
2 | Select rotation handles |
3 | Select resize handles |
4 | Switch handle axes |
| Arrow keys in a numeric field | Change its value |
Tab | Move between fields |
Escape | Cancel fitting |
Ctrl + Enter | Save the fit |
Linked changes all size axes together. Independent lets you adjust width, height, and thickness separately. Snap to vehicle attempts to place the frame against the vehicle surface. You can continue adjusting the values after snapping.
Use Plate visibility to show or hide that mount. Plate comparison temporarily makes the custom plate transparent so you can compare its placement with the vehicle's original plate.
Choose Save to keep the position for this installation. Cancel restores the saved position. The reset button restores the configured defaults. Your artwork stays in Plate studio while you fit the housing.
Flip the plate
Carry a Plate Flipper Remote when item requirements are enabled. Press J, use the remote item, run /plateflip, or choose Press remote in the target menu or Plate studio.
The key, item, and command select your current vehicle if it has a flipper, or the nearest installed vehicle within range. Default range is 30 metres. The vehicle must belong to your character under the default ownership settings.
Front and rear mounts share artwork and flip together. The animation takes 1.4 seconds by default, with a 1.7-second cooldown between requests.
Remove a flipper
Park the vehicle, open Plate studio, and choose Remove flipper. You can also choose Remove plate flipper from the target menu. Confirm the removal.
Removal takes 6 seconds by default. It removes the saved artwork and returns one kit when item requirements are enabled. Leave enough inventory space for the kit. If the inventory is full, the flipper stays installed.
